1. I apply for a Guaranteed Entry in the 2010 Great North Run (“the Run”) with Leonard Cheshire Disability.

2. I understand that Guaranteed Entries on the Run are limited, subject to availability, and that this application for a Guaranteed Entry in the Run is subject to written acceptance by Leonard Cheshire Disability.

3. I am currently sufficiently well and fit to participate in the Run

4. I will adhere to any guidance relating to health, age, sponsorship or other matters issued by the race organisers or Leonard Cheshire Disability

5. If this application is not accepted, Leonard Cheshire Disability will promptly return my £40 (£30 if purchased before 1 June 2010) registration fee, but the fee will not be returnable in any other circumstances.

6. If I am accepted for a Guaranteed Entry, I commit to raise as much as possible (at least £350) in addition to my registration fee.

7. I agree that prior to the event my registration fee of £40 (£30 if purchased before 1 June 2010) is only refundable if for any reason Leonard Cheshire Disability does not offer me a guaranteed place or if I take up a ballot place offered to me by the race organisers. My registration fee is not refundable in the event that I am unable to run through injury or for any other reason.  After the event, my registration fee will only be refunded on written request if I have collected a total sponsorship amount of £350 on top of the registration fee and sent it to Leonard Cheshire Disability on or before 19 October 2010.

8. I note that Leonard Cheshire Disability will take into account the sponsorship amount I expect to raise when it considers whether to offer me a guaranteed place in the 2010 Great North Run, and that Leonard Cheshire Disability’s advised individual target sponsorship is at least £350 (in addition to the registration fee of £40, £30 if purchased before 1 June 2010).

9. I will only collect sponsorship once you have accepted my application. I will encourage sponsors to make payments by Gift Aid where possible.

10. The registration fee and a part of the monies raised by me will be used by Leonard Cheshire Disability to meet both the costs of obtaining a Guaranteed Entry and any other costs relating to the Run. The balance will be used by Leonard Cheshire Disability for its general charitable purposes.

11. I commit to forwarding all funds raised to Leonard Cheshire Disability no later than one month after the Run (cheques should be made payable to Leonard Cheshire Disability).

12. Should I for any reason decide not to, or be unable to, either take up or use a Guaranteed Entry allocated to me, I will inform Leonard Cheshire Disability immediately and return all materials to Leonard Cheshire Disability.

13. If I do not take part in the Run, I will ask my sponsors whether they require any monies to be returned to them, and will return monies to them if they require it.

14. I agree that neither Leonard Cheshire Disability nor the organiser shall be liable for my death, personal injury or any loss or damage sustained by me as a consequence of my participation in the The Run except to the extent that the same is caused by its negligence.

15. I understand that Leonard Cheshire Disability may use a photographer to capture images at the event. I consent to Leonard Cheshire Disability, and all of its authorised third parties, using any or all of this material for fundraising and promotional purposes. Who takes part?
Everyone and anyone age 18 and over. We also welcome registrations from groups wanting to run as a team.

What do I get if I run for Leonard Cheshire Disability?
All runners receive a welcome pack including sponsorship forms, posters and plenty of fundraising and training advice. You will receive our regular team newsletters, as well as invitations to our pre and post race parties on the Great North Run weekend. We are on hand to offer ongoing support wherever we can.

What happens if I don’t raise the minimum sponsorship?
Our guaranteed place runners are asked to raise a minimum of £350 in sponsorship. There is no penalty if you don’t manage to raise the minimum sponsorship target but we ask that you don’t apply for a place unless you feel confident and committed to raising the sponsorship. Of course, we are always on hand to help with your fundraising in any way that we can.

What do you mean by an own place entry?
This is where individuals obtain their own entry into the Great North Run through general application. Leonard Cheshire Disability encourages runners with their own place to raise as much as they can for us.

What if I’ve never run a half marathon before?
That’s fine, in fact most of our team have never run a half marathon before. Last year we helped over 150 people across the finishing line through our comprehensive training advice and support.

What help is there with training for the Great North Run?
You will receive training plans in your Welcome Pack, and we will also send you regular training tips and invite you to join the Leonard Cheshire Disability online runner’s forum, where you can swap tips and post questions.

What about accommodation?
For those who need it, we will provide you with information about booking accommodation in our newsletters.

What does my registration fee go towards?
To register for one of Leonard Cheshire Disability's guaranteed places in the Great North Run we require a registration fee of £40 (or £30 if purchased before 1 June 2010). Your registration fee goes directly to the Great North Run organisers to cover administrative costs. It is not included in your sponsorship target and there is a strict no-refund or transfer policy.

What happens if I get an injury?
Should you unfortunately have to pull out due to illness or injury you must contact us immediately. For anyone running on a guaranteed entry Leonard Cheshire Disability will receive an additional entry for the following year and we will be happy to consider you for this place.

What to do next...
Please complete the registration form and return it to us, or if you have any other questions please do not hesitate to call our Running Hotline on 0870 420 430 1 or EMAIL US.
