Everyone and anyone age 18 and over. We also welcome registrations from groups wanting to run as a team. What do I get if I run for Leonard Cheshire Disability?
All runners receive a welcome pack including sponsorship forms, posters and plenty of fundraising and training advice. You will receive our regular team newsletters, as well as invitations to our pre and post race parties on the Great North Run weekend. We are on hand to offer ongoing support wherever we can. What happens if I don’t raise the minimum sponsorship?
Our guaranteed place runners are asked to raise a minimum of £350 in sponsorship. There is no penalty if you don’t manage to raise the minimum sponsorship target but we ask that you don’t apply for a place unless you feel confident and committed to raising the sponsorship. Of course, we are always on hand to help with your fundraising in any way that we can. What do you mean by an own place entry?
This is where individuals obtain their own entry into the Great North Run through general application. Leonard Cheshire Disability encourages runners with their own place to raise as much as they can for us. What if I’ve never run a half marathon before?
That’s fine, in fact most of our team have never run a half marathon before. Last year we helped over 150 people across the finishing line through our comprehensive training advice and support. What help is there with training for the Great North Run?
You will receive training plans in your Welcome Pack, and we will also send you regular training tips and invite you to join the Leonard Cheshire Disability online runner’s forum, where you can swap tips and post questions. What about accommodation?
For those who need it, we will provide you with information about booking accommodation in our newsletters. What does my registration fee go towards?
To register for one of Leonard Cheshire Disability's guaranteed places in the Great North Run we require a registration fee of £40 (or £30 if purchased before 1 June 2010). Your registration fee goes directly to the Great North Run organisers to cover administrative costs. It is not included in your sponsorship target and there is a strict no-refund or transfer policy. What happens if I get an injury?
Should you unfortunately have to pull out due to illness or injury you must contact us immediately. For anyone running on a guaranteed entry Leonard Cheshire Disability will receive an additional entry for the following year and we will be happy to consider you for this place. What to do next...
Please complete the registration form and return it to us, or if you have any other questions please do not hesitate to call our Running Hotline on 0870 420 430 1 or EMAIL US.
