Tapping into Untapped Resources
Leonard Cheshire Disability and the Volunteer Development Agency in Northern Ireland have worked in partnership to produce two new guides that will motivate more people with disabilities to get involved in volunteering.
Discrimination, lack of financial support and accessibility issues are just some of the barriers faced by disabled people when looking for volunteering opportunities. By considering ways in which your organisation can be more welcoming to people with disabilities, you are widening the pool of potential volunteers who could be a resource for your organisation.
Tapping into Untapped Resources includes practical advice for organisations about involving disabled people as volunteers, and Just Go For It is designed to inspire local disabled people to get involved in volunteering and things people should think about when considering a volunteer role.
Both these guides, and a ‘Top Tips’ promotional poster, are available here to download in PDF or Word doc formats.
