What support will I get as a volunteer?
Our founder Leonard Cheshire was himself a volunteer when he started the charity in 1948. Volunteers have always been crucial to our success and remain a vital part of our organisation. The high value that we place on our volunteers is reflected in the well developed programme of support that we make available. This helps to ensure that your experience of volunteering will be enjoyable and rewarding.
We offer:
- An induction programme to help you get to know the organisation and settle into your role
- A training programme for you to learn new skills
- A clear definition of your volunteer role and responsibilities
- Opportunities to meet other volunteers, staff and disabled people from around the world
- Support and supervision to help you carry out your tasks
- Respect and appreciation
- Reimbursement of out of pocket expenses, in line with our expenses policy
