One giant leap for charity

4 July 2005

Disability charity Leonard Cheshire is on the look out for thrill seekers who want to experience the ultimate adrenalin rush, a parachute jump. This is a unique opportunity for dare devils who have a head for heights and a strong sense of adventure to spice up their summer and do something wild.

Former Leonard Cheshire jumper, Lonzsa Knight comments: "There are no words that would truly describe it. All I can say is I haven't come down to earth yet. I'm still up there. I just think it is the best thing in the world."

There are two types of jumps available: a Tandem Skydive from 10,000 ft attached to a professional instructor, or a static line jump which is performed solo from 3,000 ft. Daring volunteers can take the plunge from any one of the 22 British Parachute Association approved airfields across the UK.

Rebecca Thomas, Events Co-ordinator at Leonard Cheshire, comments: "This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for people to do something different this summer. We encourage anyone interested in jumping for Leonard Cheshire to contact the Events Team on 0870 420 4301 or email "

To jump for free, you must raise #375 in sponsorship money. Full training will be provided on the day, no experience necessary.
