Stoke Bruerne, Grand Union Canal

Registrations 10.30am, Walk starts at 11.00am – 1.00pm

The route is 2.49 miles and should take approximately 1 hour to complete.

The walk starts at the raised grass area adjacent to the Waterways Trust Museum. Parking is available at the Museum (Pay and Display) The Navigation Pub (Free), the Church (potentially busy on a Sunday morning) and within a field close to the Church (small fee payable). There is disabled parking in both the Museum car park and within / adjacent to the Navigation Pub.

The walk is suitable for wheelchairs and buggies although they will need to stay on the Museum side of the canal throughout.

From the start point, walk past the Museum toward the Top Lock and join the tow path. From here the canal winds its way through beautiful countryside and historical waypoints.

There are a number of places to stop and eat, The Museum Café, The Navigation Pub, Spice of Bruerne, The Boat Inn. Additionally there are boat trips available through the mile long Blisworth Tunnel and the Museum visit.

Walkers may at the end of the walk wish to walk in the opposite direction (on the side of the Museum) towards Blisworth Tunnel. This is suitable for Wheelchairs / buggies. There is also a nature path approximately half way along – this is not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies.

All participants are asked to raise a minimum sponsorship of £7.50 per person or £20 for a family of four. Anybody raising £50 will receive a Leonard Cheshire Disability umbrella.
